What does the HDIA hope to accomplish?

The HDIAs was organized around a fundamental goal of creating a blueprint for lowering the cost of healthcare while improving the consumer’s healthcare experience. The HDIA believes that innovating the delivery of healthcare will make a significant impact on both the cost of healthcare and the quality of the healthcare experience.

How is HDIA different from other associations organized around the same issue?

HDIA is not a trade association, but a group of business and government leaders committed to the cause of lowering the cost of healthcare while improving the consumer’s healthcare experience through healthcare delivery innovation. The alliance is committed to a single mission, which is expected to be completed in 18 months.

I am not a healthcare provider or a human resources executive. Why should I join?

Healthcare costs impact the bottom line of every employer in the country. HDIA includes CEOs, CFOs, and HR Executives from many different industries in addition to healthcare and academic leaders. Many HDIA members represent industries that are heavily dependent on recruiting and retaining good employees, healthcare benefits are part of this process. We welcome a diversity of opinions.

How much does it cost to join?

At this time, there is no cost to join the HDIA. The only costs will be those associated with travel for Board meetings.

How often will the board meet?

Most of the Alliance’s work will be done by individuals or committees and will not require frequent travel or in person meetings. The HDIA leadership will meet to vote on key decisions approximately three times annually. The first organizational meeting was held during the Health 2.0 conference in San Francisco on Sept. 27. A schedule of future meetings is available to members.

How much time will I have to dedicate?

Most work will be done by committees of subject matter experts. The time each member dedicates to developing the blueprint will depend on their personal time commitment.
